Car Charging Group Praises California Lawmakers

At a recently held California Public Utilities Commission meeting, California regulators voted to make it easier for electric car charging companies to resell power in California. They commended Car Charging Group Inc. [NASDAQ:CCGI] a company that owns and provides electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in California with goals to construct infrastructure nationwide. Because of the vote of confidence, EV charging companies like Car Charging Group can now easily operate in California without the troublesome regulations of an investor-owned utility.
CCG’s CEO Michael D Farkas said California has led the way in green technology and the state is further clearing the road for EV charging companies by lifting regulations that restricted their ability to sell power. He continued, saying that this is a great way to bring in revenue from EV Charging stations and will help in achieving his company’s goals. He encouraged other states to follow California’s example stating that if they did the company would be able lower the price of their services, benefitting both property owners and consumers.

Ford Wins Top Honors with Eco-Conscious Designs

Ford Motor Company [NYSE: F] has managed to rise from the ashes of the automotive crisis stronger than ever, snagging the prestigious awards in two distinct market sectors for their Fusion™ passenger sedan and Transit Connect™ commercial vehicle. A panel of 49 automotive journalists at the Detroit Auto Show named the vehicles North American Car and Truck of the year, respectively. It represents a huge stride for a domestic automaker to sweep the awards in this fashion, especially in an era of bailouts and struggling sales (although it should be noted that Ford is the only American Car Manufacturer who didn’t require bailout money during the financial crisis).

Successful Tesla IPO “Charges” Electric Car Market

In the midst of a struggling economy, it always feels good to hear about a company that has managed to carve out some success despite the trying times. It feels even better when that company is a key player in the green technology sector. In this case the company is Tesla Motors [Nasdaq: TSLA], the manufacturer of the groundbreaking Tesla Roadster.
A June IPO (Initial Public Offering) for Tesla managed to raise 200 million dollars in equity financing for the company, the first US automaker to go public in 54 years. The success of their financing push in the midst of the current financial turmoil is an encouraging sign for the electric car market in general, signaling that investors (and hopefully consumers) are ready to move on the technology. In addition since IPO’s in general have lost popularity with investors since the dot com crisis earlier this decade, the relative strength of Tesla’s IPO may be another herald of success.

Green Collar to Offset Job Loss in Canadian Car Industries
After five years of tumultuous job losses in the Canadian car industry, the green collar or clean industry jobs might come to save the day. Clean energy industries are seeing an unprecedented increase in the number people to employ to man various available posts. The demand coincided with the increased demand for electric cars by consumers.
Canada is one of the many countries that is being hit by the global financial crisis. Although the demand for green jobs is starting to grow exponentially, it still has not able to cope with the job losses suffered by the country for the past five years. The country’s second-biggest auto parts manufacturer, Linamar Corp, is set to hire around 1,300 people at its manufacturing center in Guelph, Ontario before the end of 2011. Linda Hasenfratz, the auto-industry’s CEO, stated that the demand for green jobs is catapulted by the many new contracts offered to the company for the manufacture of vehicle parts or components that are more fuel and energy-efficient. Sustainable living and our car parts, we should have a close look at our car tires
When you think of sustainable living, first thing that you associate it with, is the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions from your car. Automatically you tend to focus on the fuel system of the car. Other than choosing an electric vehicle over gas to make your car eco friendly there are many other ways to reduce your carbon footprint which are not related to car’s fuel source.
One such obvious and overlooked example concerns making gas powered cars more sustainable by making road trips less harmful to the environment. Before taking a road trip, you should make sure your tires are fully inflated to increase fuel efficiently. According to fueleconomy.gov, properly inflating your tires to their proper pressure can improve mileage by about 3.3%. Having under-inflated can reduce mileage by 0.4 percent for every one PSI drop in pressure of all four tires. Continue reading
