Green and Eco Friendly Jobs to Play a Role in Job Creation
Following the release of a grim unemployment rate on August 2010, there are some positive things coming out as the call for a green economy rages on, and one of which is the creation of more green jobs for the American people. In a clean energy economy report released by the Pew Charitable Trusts, it provided hard evidences validating that the creation of green jobs is growing faster at a rate of 9.1% versus the traditional sectors’ 3.7%—from 1998-2007. Thanks to the rising demand for environmentally friendly services and the number of nation-wide programs designed to encourage firms become a leader in clean energy.
Even US Labor Department Secretary, Hilda Solis, is quick to admit that green jobs are rapidly growing with the help of many business people who are looking at the potential of creating new green-technology enterprises or updating outmoded companies to 21st-century innovation centers. Wind farms, solar projects, and battery factories are seen to be the main players to have fared better than the traditional industries. “This is a sector poised for explosive growth. Our report points to trends that show a very promising future for the green energy economy.” said Lori Grange, the interim deputy director of Pew. Continue reading
Governor Brown Pushes Clean Energy Job Agenda
More and more political candidates are jumping on the bandwagon of “going green” by including environmental friendly plans into their platform pitching even far-reaching goals sometimes. One addition to these “eco-candidates” is Jerry Brown, a Democratic gubernatorial nominee who wants to create clean-energy jobs. Brown, a wizened political veteran was California’s Governor in 70s. He was actually one of the first politicians to promote renewable energy like solar and wind during his time. And now with the current “green trend,” his renewable energy goals are all the more applicable.
Brown is proposing to create 20,000 megawatts renewable electricity by 2020 and calls for placing solar panels on major thoroughfares across the state. A goal which other clean energy analyst say is unrealistic. By comparison, The California Solar Initiative aims to create 3,000 megawatts of solar produced by 2016. Continue reading

Green Jobs of the Future
The concept of the “green-job” is very important but it is very vague. Yes, technically it is defined as a job or business considered to be environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible. It is a profession on which you improve energy efficiency, use renewable energy and protecting the environment leading to economic sustainability. But how would you categorize a job if it is green or not? If I am working on a steel factory emitting carbon on which the steel produced will be used for wind mill and solar panels, am I considered a green worker? If I am working on an automobile factory doing conventional cars and at the same time assembling hybrid cars, where category do I fall? Continue reading

Ohio received its best commendation on clean energy programs. None other than US Pres. Barrack Obama said that Toledo, the fourth most populous city in the US state Of Ohio, is poised to become a leader in clean energy technology by creating jobs in solar panel installation, wind turbines and advanced-battery manufacturing.
The global trend these days is generating green jobs. More and more countries are claiming to have included green jobs on their employment plans. Political candidates even brag about their platform on having programs to create green jobs.
