Senator Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio sponsored a provision entitled, “Investments for Manufacturing Progress and Clean Technology Act (I.M.P.A.C.T.)” is waiting for passage by Congress. To many, Washington’s political paralysis has been preventing the United States from transitioning to a renewable energy economy.
The IMPACT of impact’s proposal is a progressive step to battle against industrial lags. Hopefully, if Congress commends the said act, a $30 billion revolving loan fund will be generated. Through these funds, businesses will have multiple opportunities to reorganize and come up with more efficient renewable energy product lines as well.
The IMPACT provision is an avenue for renewable energy businesses to come up with profits of more than $100 billion. Furthermore, 680,000 direct manufacturing jobs and nearly two million indirect jobs nationwide will be created. Through this provision, each and every American will be embarking on a new and positive phase of their life!
It’s going to be a new and improved America as IMPACT gives emphasis on renewable energy and jobs. IMPACT is pro-environment as renewable energy comes from renewable resources like water, oxygen, timber, plants, vegetables, etc. Thus, there are greater possibilities that Brown’s IMPACT provision will create green collar jobs in the future that benefit the lagging job market as a whole.
Jobs have been classified as white and blue collar jobs. How about green collar jobs and what are they? Phil Angelides, a venture capitalist, a former Democratic candidate for California governor and the chair of Apollo Alliance, defines green collar as high wages with benefits capable of supporting a family, having a career path with upward mobility and needs to reduce waste, pollution and benefit the environment.
