City of Rochester Plans Large Scale Project Utilizing Retrofit Funding
Rochester General Hospital received an award of more than $300,000 from New York State Energy Research and Development Authority President and CEO Francis J. Murray and Congresswoman Louise Slaughter. The money will be used to finance lighting modernization projects that Eco Consultants have estimated will save the hospital more than $47,000 annual energy costs.
Mr. Murray said the award was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to promote conservation and energy efforts. Rochester General Hospital is one of eight energy conservation and renewable energy project beneficiaries given to Monroe County with a total amount of $1.2 Million in federal ARRA support Continue reading
Southern California Positions Itself to Take Lead in World Solar Energy Production
Solar Thermal Generating is a technology using mirrors and lenses to concentrate sun rays and turn the heat into electricity. The process is beginning to find its way to the market as the US Government continues to promote the use of large-scale renewable energy and associated green careers.
Southern California plans to embrace the technology on a wide scale now that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has issued positive environmental impact statements (EIS) for the construction of three commercial solar plants.

Green Jobs in a Viable Economy Matters Big Time for America
A new CEA report of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) has already been released last week. Based on the said report, ARRA has done well for America’s environment and its people. In other words, the act has given clean energy and jobs for American residents.
According to CEA’s estimates, “ARRA has saved and created a total of between 2.5 million and 3.6 million jobs as of the second quarter of 2010—an estimated 827,000 of which are a result of public investment in clean energy production, energy efficiency, grid modernization, and advanced vehicles manufacturing”.
Stimulus Bill Expected to Produce Nearly 1 Million Green Jobs
One of the sectors that has greatly benefited from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) or The Stimulus is the clean energy sector. The Council of Economic Advisors (CEA) report stated that the Stimulus created jobs between 2.5-3.6 million jobs and 1 million of these are in industries producing clean energy. While these figures are something way below the level expected by the public, the number of good things still proves that The Recovery Act did a lot of good things especially in terms of investing on research on energy sustainability.
Investment in clean energy and environmental consciousness are some of Obama Administration’s key focus. This is evident in the dramatic shift in building fuel-efficient automobiles and those that make use of renewable energy such as biofuel. The US also heads international efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and the installation of renewable energy machineries such as wind turbines, solar panels, biogas, hydroelectric and thermal plants, among others.
