Managing Green Job Training
Government support of green-collar
It looks like the traditional workforce classifications of white / blue collar have a new companion that is here to stay: green collar jobs. Two decades ago, energy conservation and renewable energy programs in their infancy struggled with instability as well as a lack of public and economic support. However as the new millennium has unfolded it has served up consumers with a bitter cocktail of rising fuel and energy costs, increasing limitations on access to energy, steady tax hikes and continuingly dire predictions about the future of our planet’s environment should we continue down this road. With these factors serving as constant reminders of the importance of saving energy, consumer awareness of the efficiency and renewable “green” energy sectors is higher now than it has ever been. Thanks in part to that heightened awareness, in the next decade it is expected that we will see a up to a 400% increase in the eco-related green jobs market.
In anticipation of the growth in the sector, the government has funded $500 million to boost green jobs-related training focused on energy conservation and natural resources preservation. Graduate training has also begun to shift its focus from pure academics to more utilitarian leadership roles in applied sciences; particularly on energy conservation programs, environmental management, and planning.

Get a Home Energy Make Over and Save Money Immediately
There is one very simple, yet logical, reason why we often hear sectors telling us to make our home energy efficient, that is: to save on our monthly utility bills. Who doesn’t like that idea, after all? Times are hard, and people are always interested in finding out ways on how to save as much for other important expenses. This is also one of the reasons why some local government units are as happy to sponsor contests that would award homeowners with home energy makeover worth of cash to show everyone the benefits of remodeling our homes that would equate to energy efficient home living.
Take the case of one family in Virginia who won a free home energy makeover worth up to $10,000 in a regional contest sponsored in part by Loudoun County and WJLA-TV. The Lockett family was one of three winners chosen from nearly 3,000 entrants and will be receiving installation of solar panels at their home on Brookton Way. Loudoun County is involved in a wide range of efforts to reduce the county government’s energy consumption, improve energy efficiency and raise awareness about energy conservation. Continue reading

UK Turns Up the Volume on Green Education
Speaking at an event hosted by business advisory firm TEDCO, he said his government would not make headline grabbing environmental claims like the previous government. He added that they would not dazzle the people with green gimmicks but instead would like to make an impression on people by doing the job quietly.

How do you like the living in a house that is strategically constructed to save energy and water usage more than any conventional models? This question arises as environment-friendly buildings and green home architecture are becoming the latest buzz in the construction industry today. In buildings alone, if energy efficiency is introduced as early as during the design stage, the amount of energy saved is as much as 40-50 percent compared to the 20-25 percent in existing buildings.
UK’s deputy Prime Minster said householders can make their homes energy efficiency, save on costs without any advance payments through the Green Deal Finance. He has promised the coalition governments would closely monitor a ‘quiet green revolution’ that wont have any ‘green gimmicks’, instead focusing on creation of low carbon job opportunities.
