Arizona and Switzerland Promotes Renewable Energy Resources

The solar-powered airplane from SwitzerlandSolar Impulse’s Chief Executive Officer and pilot André Borschberg experienced fatigue all over his body when he successfully landed after a 24 hour test flight of a solar-powered plane. As an experimental aircraft, the plane’s solar panels were covered with 207-foot wingspan and batteries that stored the energy.

“The goal of the project is to have a solar-powered plane flying day and night without fuel,” says the team co-founder and a record-breaking balloonist, Bernard Piccard. As the plane flies through the air, it has to gather up energy from the sun so it can continually fly through the night. Indeed, the plane’s risky venture was a huge success!
